The widow lady

I love old photographs, even when they are faded and scratched, because they contain a wealth of information which can be coaxed out with patience and some paint.
This is Rachel Bower, the ancestor of a dear friend. I know nothing about her really, except that she lived to be old. There she sits, waiting, just waiting. For you to come to visit? She’s already cooked the meal. Come on in, you’re late!

  1. I’ll be right over for lunch with this dear lady. She is a dear woman whom I feel I know because of the richness of your paint job!

  2. You have brought out the “life experiences” of this woman – just looking at your painting – I sense a life spent hard at work – outdoors – perhaps a farmer… maybe grew apples or something – but always fed some hungry guys and kept the clothes clean.
