Phil Williams, recently deceased, was, with his wife and partner, Vivian, one of the most important people in the folk music community in the northwest.
I first learned about them in the early 1980s, because my young husband at the time had seen them at Weiser. I enjoyed going to jams at their house, and even took my little boy there for a violin lesson a few times. My kids were in the Washington Old Time Fiddlers, and whenever Phil was there, he’d back up any kid fiddler that asked. I saw this snapshot at Phil’s Memorial on the slide show and thought it might make a nice painting. Hope you like it. Not for Sale.
