Contra Dance Tunes and Medleys

Phil has been playing in Contradance bands for over 40 years. He has amassed an amazing collection of over 700 contra dance tunes and has transcribed them into abc format. They are dance proven melodies, and by popping them into an online converter, you can get a nice clean copy of musical notation (dots). These tunes are as played in Seattle area bands; namely, Salmonberry, Scotsbroome, Pleasures of Home, Small Pleasures, Common Ground, Grey Owl, North Trunk Highway, Paddy's Handcar, Sleeping Giant, Woodland Flowers and the Vivian Williams 2023 Tribute band.

This site makes available, in abc format, approx. 700 tunes actually played for dance evenings, as well as a Google Sheet of over 1700 medleys of tunes that fit well together in support of individual called dances. This page is for scholars of traditional American music. Converting abc's to sheet music, as well as navigating any copyright issues, is left up to the users. Phil's current favorite online sites for converting abc's to sheet music pdf's and downloading them are:
Colin Hume's Convert your own ABC to MIDI/MP3/PDF
